Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort sponsors upcoming triathlon

Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort & Spa, a 22-acre oceanfront resort on Hawaii, the Big Island, has become the title sponsor for the 4th Annual Lavaman Keauhou Triathlon scheduled for Nov. 18. Lavaman Keauhou is a fully sanctioned USA Triathlon Olympic Distance Triathlon produced by Hawaii Sports Connection. It is open to elite triathletes, triathlon enthusiasts and relay teams of all ages and levels. Lavaman Keauhou begins with a single lap 1.5K swim in Keauhou Bay. Athletes then transition to the bike portion, a scenic single-loop 40K course which takes them up the challenging Kamehameha III Road to Kuakini Highway and famed Queen Kaahumanu Highway. Bikers proceed north to the turnaround at the entrance to Kona’s Natural Energy Lab (NELHA). Once back in town, bikers race along one of Hawaii’s Scenic Byways, oceanfront Alii Drive to Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort & Spa for the bike to run transition. The 10K run traverses through historic Keauhou Resort grounds, past ancient battlefields with sweeping ocean views, within the Kona Country Club golf course, and back to the finish line at Sheraton Keauhou Bay. On Nov. 17, the Lavaman Keauhou Expo opens at Sheraton Keauhou Bay’s Keauhou Convention Center. During the Expo, racers will enjoy sport product and sponsor booths and pick-up their race-day packets. LavaKids also takes centre stage Saturday morning with the Lavakids Youth Aquathon swim/run at Keauhou Bay for children seven to 14 and a special LavaKids Dash for children under age seven. In keeping with the Lavaman tradition, the weekend will conclude with an awards party and banquet at Sheraton Keauhou Bay, complete with live music, great food and camaraderie for volunteers and athletes.
