Skal North America Meets In Hawaii

Skal members from across Canada, the US and Mexico met in Honolulu, Hawaii for the SKAL North American Congress recently and during the event, Skal International president, Lavonne Whittman share international updates with the organization’s members.

Delegates also enjoyed the Aloha Spirit which included attending the opening of the Hawaii Food and Wine Festival at the Kahala Hotel, where 10 celebrity chefs, mixologists, wineries and breweries came out to show off their skills and talents.

During the congress, the Skal Canada Board held their meeting to discuss a number of business issues.

Skal Canada president, Paul Durand awarded the 2018 President’s Gold Award of Distinction to Skal Vancouver, Skal Canadian Rockies, Skal Edmonton and Skal Winnipeg Clubs for achieving excellence in membership development and leadership. Skal London won the Distinction Award for 2018.

The congress’ closing event was an authentic private luau hosted by Sea Life Park, Hawaii’s marine mammal park, bird sanctuary and aquarium. Guests enjoyed traditional Hawaiian delicacies and performances by talented musicians and dancers. Some Skal members even showed their Aloha spirit by performing the hula on stage.

Skal Canada has over 700 members in 17 Clubs across the country. Tourism and hospitality executives are invited to join this networking organization.

The Skal International World Congress is taking place Sept. 14-21 aboard the Symphony of the Seas sailing from Miami.
