Celebrating The Wonders Of Germany

The Destination Germany Roadshow rolled into Toronto last night (Sept.10) as 20 suppliers from Germany and Canada were on hand to update some 80 agents on what’s on offer in the European destination.

Looking ahead, the major themes for the German National Tourist Office are the celebration of 100 years of Bauhaus in 2019, and Beethoven’s 250th anniversary and the Oberammergau Passion Play in 2020, which only occurs every 10 years.

“I hope that agents got a good idea of how diverse Germany is and of how much it has to offer,” says Julia Dywelski, the new director of the German National Tourist Office in Canada. “Germany is also one of the most affordable countries in Europe and even the Canadian dollar goes a long way. The Canadian market is a quality market for Germany as many of the great agents that sell Germany send over wonderful clients.”

According to Dywelski, Germany is seeing solid growth in overnights compared to last year.

“We have had an increase of about 3 percent in the first 6 months of 2018,” she says.
