Starwood helping out with Sandy relief

Starwood’s New York born brands have announced their commitment to donate and raise a minimum of $150,000 for The Robin Hood Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund. In an effort to help fellow New Yorkers and those deeply affected by Hurricane Sandy, St. Regis Hotels & Resorts and W Hotels Worldwide will rally local communities around the world through events and fundraising initiatives over the next 2 weeks. The brands will also donate funds, in addition to money raised by its various properties all over the world, toward relief efforts. Carlos Becil, vice-president brand management, W Hotels & St. Regis, North America, commented: “As a New Yorker myself, it’s truly heartbreaking to see the devastation that Sandy has caused to so many people in our area. The W and St. Regis brands are deeply rooted in New York City and by engaging our network of hotels, guests and communities around the world, we hope to offer support to those who continue to face unimaginably challenging times.” Robin Hood — New York’s largest poverty fighting organization — is delivering the money, materiel and know-how required to help thousands of people whose lives have been devastated by Hurricane Sandy. Just as they did after 9/11, Robin Hood will continue to provide both immediate and long-term emergency aid to help the region and its residents get back on their feet.
