Sunquest Ups The Commission
In an initiative designed to earn travel agents more money, TravelBrands’ Sunquest division is moving non-commissionable fees (surcharges) into the base price of its packages – making them commissionable – effective immediately.
According to Bryan Klompas, executive vice-president, TravelBrands, under the new pricing model agents will earn, on average, an extra $40 per double booking.
The only non-commissionable portion will be taxes and fees charged by end-suppliers such as airlines.
“Ultimately, if the travel agent is successful, we will be successful,” said Klompas, stressing that TravelBrands remains committed to the travel agent community.
It was noted that the move will have no impact on the travelling public.
