Sunwing STAR Points Incentive for Mazatlan Bookings
Sunwing is offering agents double STAR points on all new bookings to Mazatlan, Mexico made from through Oct. 23 for departures Nov. 1 to April 30, 2019.
The announcement was made just days after the tour operator completed its first ever mega FAM trip to the Pacific Mexican destination. On Oct. 11, 161 top-selling agents from both Toronto and Montreal travelled down to Mazatlan on Sunwing’s new Boeing 737 MAX 8 airplane where they received an official welcome from Julio Birrueta, director of the tourist board for Mazatlan, and Oscar Perez Barros, secretary of tourism of the State of Sinaloa.
Over three days, the agents explored the best the destination has to offer, including visiting its most popular hotels and touring the historic downtown. The group stayed at Riu Emerald Bay where they were welcomed with a cocktail reception and private dinner on the beach. They also received a special performance at the historic Angela Peralta Theatre in the city’s colonial centre, along with a formal dinner at El Cid El Moro Beach hotel that ended with a performance from the town’s carnival troupe of dancers and a fireworks display.
Andrew Dawson, chief operating officer for Sunwing Travel Group, was on the trip and commented, “We would like to thank the local tourist board and our hotel and destination partners for their assistance and warm hospitality during this FAM trip. With the introduction of our new direct flight service from Montreal this coming winter, we will be offering Mazatlan from eight different airports coast to coast. We look forward to introducing even more Canadians to this authentic Mexican destination this season.”
Sunwing’s vice-president of sales, Deana Murphy, added, “This is the first time that we have ever brought so many agents down to explore the destination of Mazatlan at any one time. We are delighted to have had the opportunity to showcase the destination with our top-selling agents as we increase the number of flights we offer to Mazatlan this winter.”
