BikeHike Adventures is inviting active travellers to welcome the new year by summitting Mt. Kilimanjaro.
The late December 10-day Climbing Kilimanjaro tour has travellers make their final ascent early New Year\’s Day to experience the first sunrise of the new year from the highest point in Africa. The journey up passes through five climatic zones along the scenic Macheme Route. Daily hikes average eight hours each. At midnight on New Year\’s Eve the group will begin their final climb to Kilimanjaro\’s peak at 5,896 metres. The goal is to watch the sunrise on Jan. 1 from the summit.
The itinerary also includes a game drive and hike through Arusha National Park to see giraffe, elephants, hippos, buffalo and more.
The special departure runs Dec. 25 to Jan. 3, beginning and ending in Arusha, Tanzania. The land cost of climbing Kilimanjaro is US$3,499 and includes all internal transportation, entrance fees, accommodation (shared twin), most meals, equipment, English speaking veteran guides, porters and cooks.
