Take a bite into Kissimmee’s diverse offerings for travellers

The president/CEO of Experience Kissimmee is counting on its diverse culinary scene to help put the destination on the map for travellers far beyond its well-known entertainment offerings.

In partnership with Atlas Obscura, Experience Kissimmee has launched the Latin Culinary Trail, a new immersive experience showcasing and highlighting Osceola County’s Hispanic and Latino food culture.

“We are one of the most diverse counties in the country,” shared DT Minich of Experience Kissimmee, the official tourism marketing organization for Osceola County, Florida, adding that 56 per cent of the population is Hispanic.

Minich continued: “The Hispanic community is made up of so many different countries and cultures. Almost every Latin America country has a restaurant here. We’ve got amazing Colombian empanadas and amazing Mexican, Caribbean and Brazilian food, and Peruvian food, and most of these restaurants are mom and pop [shops], a lot of them are second, third generation. We’ve got a little Cuban cafe in downtown Kissimmee and there’s three generations working in that restaurant.”

The newly launched trail features 20 handpicked restaurants, cafés and food trucks ranging from family-owned favourites like El Cilantrillo and La Mexicana Restaurant to community staples such as Food Trucks Heaven and Susana’s Café.
