Press Today is sad to report that William H. (Bill) Maguire, CTC passed away on March 19, 2016.

He was 89 years old.

Bill Maguire will be long remembered for his commitment and contributions to this country’s travel industry.

He was the first two-year president of ACTA Ontario.

He served on the ACTA national board for 12 years as secretary-treasurer.

Maguire was ACTA’s  vice-president of aviation for 4 years.

He worked tirelessly on bringing the original ACTA I.D. Card program into reality.

And he was president of ACTA National from 1991 to 1993.

In 1995, Maguire, and his wife Doris, created an award in honour of their daughter, Bonita Maguire-Wamsley.

The Bonita Maguire-Wamsley Award is awarded to the individual that achieves the highest mark on the CITC Management Work Paper and working in an ACTA member agency.

In 1996, Maguire was awarded an ACTA life membership.

Visitation is at the MacCoubrey Funeral Home in Cobourg on Wed., March 23, 2016 from 3 pm to 5 pm

Memorial service is also at the MacCoubrey Funeral Home on Thurs., March 24, 2016 at 1 pm
