Tauck Introduces Expanded European Collection
Tauck is ready for 2016 and is offering a unique portfolio of European land journeys – a collection of 35 tour itineraries highlighted by a new exploration of Ireland and Great Britain, as well as a new journey through Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Finland.
Tauck has also made enhancements to additional itineraries while simultaneously reducing prices. By passing along savings garnered through favourable currency exchange rates, Tauck has been able to lower its 2016 European land tour prices across the board by an average of seven per cent, with a high savings of 10% for the coming year.
2016 will also mark Tauck’s 25th year operating land journeys in Europe, and since its 1991 debut on the continent, the company has marketed its European tours under a “Yellow Roads of Europe” banner. Named for the scenic byways marked in yellow on Michelin’s European road maps, Tauck’s Yellow Roads tours typically avoid major thoroughfares and instead explore those scenic byways and the picturesque towns and villages along the way, as well as Europe’s larger, iconic cultural cities.
The new 14-day “Ireland & Great Britain” tour begins in Ireland with an overnight in Ennis, followed by two-night stays in Killarney and Dublin, with a subsequent overnight in Belfast. Following a ferry ride to Scotland, guests then spend two nights in Edinburgh before travelling south into England, where a two-night stay in York, an overnight stay in Cambridge, and a final two-night stay in London await.
Highlights of the journey (from US$6,390 per person, double occupancy, plus air) include a visit to the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin, a demonstration by a world-champion sheep shearer in Derreen, Ireland, and lunch at Trinity Hall at Cambridge. Guests will also enjoy a guided tour and medieval lunch (with costumed interpreters and a weapons demonstration) at Alnwick Castle in Northumberland, and a tour of Henry VIII’s Hampton Court Palace.
Tauck’s other new European itinerary, “A Week in the Baltics,” begins with a two-night stay at the Kempinski Hotel Cathedral Square in Vilnius, Lithuania. The eight-day itinerary (from US$3,690 per person, double occupancy, plus air) then proceeds to Riga, Latvia for a second two-night stay. Following an overnight in Tallinn, Estonia (and a ferry crossing to Finland the following day), the tour concludes with two nights in Helsinki.
