Tianguis Wrap-Up Party Lights Up Guadalajara

Tianguis-May5

Tianguis Turistico Mexico 2016 bid farewell to host city Guadalajara with a lavish gala celebration in an outdoor park city setting. It started with dinner and speeches, and ended with an open-bar dance party that ran well past midnight.

Hosting the party was the state of Guerrero, home to the city of Acapulco, which was announced as the 2017 location of next year’s Tianguis. Also located in Guerrero is the historic and scenic silver mining town of Taxco, and the twin beach towns of Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo.

Attending Tianguis in Guadalajara this year were about 2,420 buyers, who met with 3,100 exhibitors, and conducted over 32,000 business appointments. The international audience of product buyers was sourced from 79 countries around the world, with a special emphasis on nations from Latin America. Amongst them were tour operators from the Pacific Alliance member countries of Colombia, Chile and Peru, plus Mexico. Also, the number of countries from Asia represented – 52 – was a record for the trade mart.
