TICO Issues SkyGreece Advice

tico-logos-daily
The Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) is advising consumers who have purchased SkyGreece Airlines travel services from a registered Ontario travel agent and who did not receive their travel services and have not been reimbursed that they can file a claim with the Ontario Travel Industry Compensation Fund.

TICO’s advisory notes as well that consumers can request a claim form from TICO by contacting TICO directly at 1-888-451-8426 or 905-624-6241 or e-mail: [email protected] to request the form. And it points out that there is a legislated 6 month claim filing deadline. The filing deadline is Feb. 29, 2016.

As well TICO said that consumers who have paid by credit card and who have been charged by the airline should contact their credit card company and request a refund as well as request a claim form from TICO.

TICO’s advisory also states that for consumers who purchased their SkyGreece Airlines S.A. travel services from an out-of-province travel agency (i.e. a travel agency located outside the province of Ontario), there is no provision under Ontario Regulation 26/05 pursuant to the Travel Industry Act, 2002 for a consumer to claim on the Travel Compensation Fund when they have purchased travel services from an out-of-province travel agency.

In such cases, TICO can only recommend that you contact your travel agency for further assistance and/or your credit card company and request a refund, if applicable.

As for consumers who purchased their SkyGreece Airlines S.A. travel services directly from the airline, there is no provision under Ontario Regulation 26/05 pursuant to the Travel Industry Act, 2002 for a consumer to claim on the Travel Compensation Fund when they have purchased travel services directly from an airline. Those consumers may wish to contact their credit card company and request a refund.
