Trade invited to meet Rosanne Cash

Discover America Committee Canada is inviting the travel trade to a concert by Grammy Award-winning musician Rosanne Cash, and a chance to meet her, in Hamilton on Aug. 15. Cash’s latest effort is Land of Dreams, which is used in US tourism promotion campaigns. Those visiting Hamilton Place can pay a fee of $40 that includes a meet and greet reception with Cash and a signed copy of her latest CD — The List. For $80, they can attend the reception and the concert. There will be special seating arranged for the travel industry group. Those interested must RSVP by Aug. 10. People can RSVP by e-mailing [email protected] . Payment must be made by cash or cheque in advance or at the door. The industry is being asked to support Discover America Committee Canada by attending the special reception sponsored by Travel South USA, where participants will have an opportunity to talk to and meet Cash. Cash has made a name for herself over the years as an American singer-songwriter and author. Eldest daughter of the late country music singer Johnny Cash, she won a Grammy for I Don’t Know Why You Don’t Want Me, and has received nine other Grammy nominations, along with 11 #1 country hit singles, 21 Top 40 country singles and two gold records. Half of the proceeds of this event will be given to a charity. Childrens Incorporated has direct ties to sponsoring children in many US destinations which Discover America Committee Canada members have direct ties to. In the song she wrote for the Brand USA campaign, which was recently launched at Pow Wow 2012, “Land of Dreams”characterizes America as “A thousand shades of something new,”and identifies the appeal of the country as a place that contains everything and where everything is possible.
