Transat provides update and FAQ on dynamic pricing for ancillaries

Transat is advising travel advisors that to better meet the needs of their clients, ancillary products such as seat selection, baggage, Option Plus, and Option Flex (Standard and Extra) are now offered using dynamic pricing.
By taking this approach, Transat says that it allows customers to access prices that are better aligned with booking conditions while providing more choice to personalize their trip according to their preferences and budget.
And the company adds that this model is also aligned with common industry practices in the travel sector and enables Transat to remain competitive in an ever-evolving marketplace.
To help advisors answer client queries, Transat has released an FAQ (frequently asked questions).
What are the benefits for customers?
For customers, dynamic pricing offers several advantages. It may provide more attractive prices when demand is lower or when products are purchased in advance. Customers also benefit from pricing levels that better match their needs and budget. Finally, it helps improve product availability throughout the sales cycle and offers greater flexibility.
When will dynamic pricing for ancillary products be implemented?
The dynamic pricing algorithm entered its preliminary phase for seat selection, baggage, and Option Plus in January 2026. This phase has enabled Transat to test and refine the dynamic pricing model in order to optimize its effectiveness.
Since August 10, 2026, Option Flex Standard and Option Flex Extra has been progressively integrated into the preliminary dynamic pricing model, depending on the destination, booking date, departures date and selected product. The rollout will take place gradually, and the algorithm will continue to evolve to adapt to market trends.
My client would like to know the price of an ancillary product. How can I find this information?
To find the current price, you must perform a quote or access the customer’s booking using the appropriate sales tools, either SIREV at time of booking or the “Manage My Booking” section on the Air Transat website.
The price displayed at the time of consultation is the fare applicable to that client and itinerary at that specific moment. Because prices are dynamically adjusted, they may change at any time and therefore cannot be guaranteed until the purchase has been completed.
I received a schedule change notification and the price of my ancillary product is now higher. Will my customer have to pay the difference?
When a schedule change occurs, any ancillary products that have already been purchased are transferred to the new itinerary in order to preserve the services selected by the client. In such cases, no fare difference is charged, even if the ancillary product is priced higher at the time of the change.
However, if the customer had not purchased the ancillary product before the change and wishes to add it afterwards, the price in effect at the time of purchase will apply.
There has been an aircraft change and my client’s seat selection was modified. How can I change the seat again and what fare applies?
In the event of an aircraft change, Air Transat will make every effort to assign each passenger a seat within the same fare category as the one originally selected.
If the newly assigned seats are not suitable, it is possible to modifiy the seat using “Manage My Booking” section on the Air Transat website. Should the seat selection price have changed for the same seat category, the modification may be processed through the Contact Centre at no additional cost to the client.
My client wants to add Option Flex after booking. Since the request must be submitted through the online form, how is the price determined and can it be guaranteed?
We strongly recommend adding Option Flex at the time of booking in order to confirm and secure the applicable price. If required, a request to remove the Option Flex may subsequently be submitted through the online form.
For bookings that have been placed on Option, any request to remove Option Flex must be made at the time the payment guarantee is applied.
If Option Flex was not added during the initial booking process, the price in effect at the time of adding the component will apply and may therefore differ from the price in effect when the form was submitted. The process for adding Option Flex through the online form remains unchanged.
If my client does a modification to their files, changes of destination or travel dates, after purchasing an ancillary product, will the original price be kept?
Ancillary products are subject to dynamic pricing. As a result, any new purchase or voluntary modification is subject to the price in effect at the time the transaction is completed.
If a customer wishes to modify an ancillary product that was previously purchased following a change of destination or travel dates, the new selection will be charged at the rate displayed at the time of the modification. Any applicable fare difference must be paid by the customer.
If the current rate is lower than the price originally paid, no refund or credit will be issued.
