Transat Sets Up Base in Cabos

Transat invites agents and travellers looking for a change of scenery, adventure and authentic experiences to discover Los Cabos, a Mexican resort town in southern Baja California, by watching the latest four episodes of its web series, Travel Basecamp.

“Travel Basecamp inspires us to travel differently by taking the road less travelled and getting to know different destinations through their local cultures and customs,” says Geneviève LeBrun, vice-president of marketing at Transat Tours Canada. “This series encourages travellers to treat their resorts as base camps and enjoy unique experiences.”

The first episode kicks off with the Travel Basecamp participants deciding to go bungee jumping in a canyon. In the second episode, they learn the art of glass-blowing to create colourful pieces. Their adventure then takes them free diving in the depths of the Sea of Cortez and walking through the desert.

Travel Basecamp is an exclusive reality-style series developed by Transat in partnership with Lacroix & Heroes. Its episodes delve into exhilarating and inspiring adventures, introducing curious travellers to a range of destinations in the Caribbean and Central America. Since its launch, Travel Basecamp has plunged travellers into Honduras, Jamaica, Cuba (Santa Lucia, Camaguey, Varadero, Havana, Cayo Guillermo and Cayo Santa Maria), the Dominican Republic (Punta Cana and Santo Domingo), Mexico (Cancun, Riviera Maya and Merida) and Panama.

The Travel Basecamp series has received more than 5.5 million views since making its debut on YouTube and Vimeo. It has also won awards at the Telly Awards in the Branded Content category, and at the Communicator Awards in the categories of Film and Video in Travel and Tourism, Branded Content and Online Video – Travel.
