Travel Partner International Charged: TICO

The Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) has charged Travel Partner International Inc. with one count of operating as a travel agent without being registered.

TICO has also charged Hazem El Maghraby with one count of being an officer and director of a corporation and failing to take reasonable care to prevent the corporation from committing an offence, in this case, for operating without TICO registration.

According to TICO, it is alleged that Travel Partner International searches for conventions and trade shows taking place across North America, obtaining lists of exhibitors and participants. It then contacts those businesses and individuals, falsely advising them that Travel Partner International Inc. is affiliated with the convention or trade show and can book discounted rooms in nearby hotels.

Charges were laid on June 27.

El Maghraby will appear in court in Toronto on Aug. 1.
