incentive game “Postcards from Paradise”. This brand new “Win with
Occidental” interactive game rewards travel agents for their bookings.
Every NEW booking confirmed with any Canadian tour operator at a
participating Occidental resort will earn a chance to “flip to win” a
seven night all inclusive land-only vacation, $25, $100, $250 or the
Grand Prize $2,000 Visa® Gift Card All bookings made June 9th, 2013 –
December 15th, 2013 for hotel stays June 15th, 2013 – December 31st,
2013 are eligible.

and register their bookings to qualify. Agents are then invited to play
the instant win game where they flip postcards for a chance to win an
instant prize, including a seven night all inclusive land-only vacation

The

New additions at the
Occidental Grand Nuevo Vallarta

The Occidental Grand Nuevo Vallarta has completed all scheduled
renovations, totalling an investment of $15 million US dollars. The
renovation project began in 2011 when the resort closed for a year to
undergo its dramatic transformation from an Allegro to a Grand property.
To create an even better guest experience, the addition of a second
adult’s only swimming pool, theater stage and kids club were built in
2013 adjacent to the hotel. The second pool is adults only and offers
sunbathers spectacular views of the ocean and the sunsets of the Mexican
Pacific. The pool area has been outfitted with pergolas, chaise lounge
chairs, outdoor showers, and pool concierge services by the Beach Bar
staff. A magnificent Palapa is home to a brand new theater equipped with
state of the art sound and lighting for nightly shows and entertainment
holding up to 200 people. The brand new Kids Club offers families
staying at the resort supervised activity programs with expert staff, TV
room, X-box Games, private garden play area and a kid’s splash pool.

The Mangú Disco Reveals a Brand New Look
The iconic disco, Mangú located at the Occidental Grand Punta Cana
(Dominican Republic) has been completely renovated. The Mangú disco
boasts two independent levels and a climate controlled outdoor terrace
for guests who prefer a more relaxed atmosphere. The renovation included
4 bars, 2 DJ booths with the latest in audio & lighting equipment, 2
dance floors and a VIP area with private dance floor.
Guest
staying at the Occidental Grand Punta Cana has an all access pass to
the Mangú disco by using their wristbands; the popular disco is also
open to visitors from other resorts at a nightly rate. Mangú offers an
innovative alternative to resort nightlife with its modern design and
performing acrobatic circus style dancers, entertainers and
international DJ’s.
Occidental Hotels & Resorts Embarks on a Refurbishment Investment Plan
Occidental Hotels & Resorts has concluded its long-term debt
refinancing process through an agreement with 10 Spanish and
international entities, which have endorsed the company’s 2012-2016
business plan following months of negotiations.
Shareholders of Occidental Hotels & Resorts within the Caribbean
have terminated unprofitable operations in Spain, which has permitted
the company to reposition at profitable levels to increase its
competitive advantage. Between 2010 and 2012, the Company completed an
important consolidation effort, which increased its EBITDA from $29
million USD in 2010 (where the activities in Spain contributed to
significant operating loss) to $54 million USD in 2012. This process of
improvement, as well as strategic realignment has allowed Occidental
Hotels & Resorts to embark on a new phase of development through
business activities, new investments and asset upgrades within the
all-inclusive segment.

Occidental Hotels & Resorts Earns 2013 Tripadvisor Excellence Award
TripAdvisor, the largest travel website in the world has awarded the
prestigious 2013 Certificate of Excellence to six hotels within the
Occidental Hotels & Resorts brand, four in Mexico, one in the
Dominican Republic and one in Aruba. TripAdvisor sorted through millions
of reviews and opinions to award Occidental Hotels & Resorts with
the 2013 TripAdvisor certificate of Excellence. The six hotels that
received the Certificate of Excellence by TripAdvisor are: The Royal
Hideaway Playacar (member of Leading Hotels of the World), The
Occidental Grand Xcaret, The Occidental Grand Cozumel, The Occidental
Grand Nuevo Vallarta, and the Occidental Grand Aruba. In addition to the
five all inclusive resorts, Occidental’s city hotel, the El Embajador
in Santo Domingo was also awarded the recognition.
All
six resorts have been recognized for having obtained appraisals ranging
from four to four and a half out of five by the customers of each
resort. The appraisals were conducted through TripAdvisor and the
results reflect a high level of satisfaction by travellers to Occidental
Hotels.
