Try A Taste Of Barbados

barbados-logo-only

Barbados has long been known as a tasty destination, sometimes referred to as the “culinary capital” of the Caribbean and since 2010, the Barbados Food & Wine and Rum Festival has ensured that reputation continues. In fact, the island has just announced that the 2015 Festival will be held from Nov. 19 to Nov. 22.

Now in its sixth year, the four-day event will showcase Barbados’ best dishes and will provide visitors with an opportunity to try new global flavours. Bajan and international chefs will once again dazzle live audiences with cooking demonstrations, while wine experts identify the perfect pairings for thirsty travellers.

Of course, a festival celebrating Barbadian flavours would not be complete without the inclusion of rum. Guests are invited to explore the island’s rum distilleries by foot and taste for themselves what sets Bajan rum apart. Barbados prides itself on being the birthplace of rum – 1703 was the year Mount Gay was established.

Past chefs who have held the star spotlight over the first five years of Barbados Food & Wine and Rum Festival have included Canada’s own TV Chef darlings, Mark McEwan and Roger Mooking. They have shared the bill with other well-known names such as Ann Burrell, Tyler Florence, Stephanie Izard, and the local Oistins-loving Marcus Samuelsson.

This 2015 Chef lineup will be announced later this summer.
