Uniworld Taking River Luxury To New Levels

Three new European river cruises, enhanced itineraries, a new ship in China and an exclusive new partnership with Air Canada Vacations has Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection sailing smooth waters for the upcoming 2018-2019 cruise seasons, reports assistant editor, Greg Coates in this week’s Travel Courier cover story.

Newly announced by the luxury line is that U by Uniworld is now open to guests of all ages, with the 21- to 45-year age restriction eliminated.

According to Michelle Palma, vice-president, Field Sales, North America, this decision was made based on feedback received from trade partners and consumers.

“There is clearly a strong demand in the market for this innovate, fun new brand and we are responding by eliminating the age cap of 45,” said Palma. “Since we made the announcement earlier this month, we’ve seen a significant increase in bookings, for FIT, groups and even charters.”

She added, “We’ve discovered there is a segment of the market that wants to experience river cruising differently from a traditional river cruise. They want more active excursions such as kayaking and rock climbing. They want to attend local music and beer/wine festivals. They want to do excursions on their own and not in a group environment. U by Uniworld delivers all of that and more. There are no early morning excursions and there is much more time spent overnight in ports for guests to experience the nightlife in the various cities and towns along the way.”

Palma also wants travel agents to know that while sales for this year are off to an incredible start, there is still space available on some of the line’s most popular itineraries.
