Kicking Horse Mountain Resort has announced a new via ferrata climbing attraction, scheduled to open this summer.
Via ferrata is Italian for “iron road” and is a fixed-route climb along a series of cables, ladders and bridges. Climbers are clipped in for safety, giving amateurs an experience normally reserved for pros.
The via ferrata route at Kicking Horse will have two difficulty levels – one accessible to most people, climbing about 70 metres and the other more challenging route of 100 metres up. Participants will receive basic safety instructions and undergo a guided initiation course before starting out.
