Virgin Voyages Has Big Plans For First Mates

Virgin Voyages First Mates have certainly been soaking up all the cruise line has to offer, including competitive commissions, no NCFs and events designed around the travel agent community.

On the heels of its new LetsGoBook reservations platform — an advisor-friendly interface created to streamline the booking process — Virgin Voyages is announcing its first-ever First Mate Spectacular Soiree and the launch of its Golden Ink Awards.

The top 100 North American First Mates with the most bookings between Nov. 1, 2021 — Oct. 31, 2022 will be invited to pack their chicest nautical stripes and come aboard for a complimentary and exclusive getaway in January.

Departing from Miami on Jan. 4, 2023, this four-night soiree aboard the brand’s second ship, Valiant Lady, will treat the top-selling First Mates to the sun-soaked destinations of Key West and Bimini including a stop at Virgin Voyages’ signature Beach Club. Each First Mate attendee will be invited to bring a guest to share the experience with and will be treated to a gorgeous Sea Terrace cabin along with $200 in Sailor Loot to spend on-board.

Members from the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) and the American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) will also be in attendance.

The First Mate Spectacular Soiree will recognize those advisors who have embraced what it means to Set Sail The Virgin Way and those who are truly champions of the brand.

In store on this sailing are one-time-only happenings, a special cocktail party, exclusive cabin drops with VV swag, sailaway cocktails, educational opportunities and the first-ever Golden Ink Awards.

Honouring the best of the best, the Golden Ink Awards will acknowledge the agents who’ve gone above and beyond in various categories. From sales manager-nominated categories to best creative marketing, the Golden Ink Awards are an annual celebration Virgin Voyages is excited to introduce.

John Diorio, Vice President of North American Sales, said: “Our First Mates have always been in our corner, so we wanted to find a way to celebrate their commitment to this incredible brand. The Golden Ink Awards are one of the only advisor-focused awards in the cruising industry. It’s so important that we take the time to show First Mates our appreciation and to treat them to the same incredible experience that their clients have loved.”

The top 100 list has not been solidified, and with a deadline of Oct. 31, 2022, agents still have plenty of time to book their clients and earn a spot on the coveted list. First Mates can boost their bookings by reminding clients of any remaining Future Voyage Credits, by selling a Circle (reservations of 10+ cabins), by utilizing the line’s new Match and Sea More program that offers loyalty perks to those who’ve cruised on other lines, and by taking advantage of the new LetsGoBook platform.
