Tourism Australia has selected VoX International as its representation office in Canada.

VoX will be responsible for developing partnerships and new business opportunities for Tourism Australia and forging relationships with the travel trade, tour operators and airlines to further promote the destination in Canada.

Jane Whitehead, Tourism Australia’s vice-president and regional general manager for the Americas, said the appointment would ensure Tourism Australia continues to build on its already strong representation in Canada.

Canada is an important and growing destination for Australia.

“We’ve seen 5.8% growth in visitor arrivals from Canada in the year to June 2015, making it Australia’s 13th largest inbound market,” she said.

Canadian visitor arrivals were 142,600 for the period.
Canada was Australia’s 12th largest market for total visitor expenditure, generating $793 million in total expenditure in the year to March 2015. Airline capacity continues to grow. Canadian visitors can travel to Australia on major airlines including Air Canada, Air New Zealand and, seasonally, Qantas as well as a variety of other carriers.

The announcement coincides with the re-launch of the Aussie Specialist Program (ASP) which helps to equip advisors with the knowledge and skills to sell Australia. VoX will also provide support and training for ASP.

“We are so proud to represent Australia. It is such a big country, many Canadians don’t realize how much there is to actually see and do,” said VoX president Susan Webb. “With a wonderful tropical climate in the north, amazing coastal beaches, lush rain forests and an amazing culinary scene, the options are endless.”

She added, “Sydney is a spectacular city and offers great night life and shopping, while South Australia is famous for its wine and wildlife, then Western Australia offers spectacular beaches and great outback adventures.”

VoX International will represent Tourism Australia out of its Toronto-based office as well as in Vancouver and Montreal.
