We just flew to Las Vegas on the inaugural Porter flight

What happens in Vegas won’t stay in Vegas this time!

Bound for the Strip, Baxter Media was onboard the inaugural Porter Airlines flight from YYZ to LAS yesterday. Upon touching down at Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport, the arriving passengers were greeted by showgirls, a symbol of the city’s renowned entertainment scene.

A convenient travel option

“We are thrilled that this new direct flight from Toronto with Porter Airlines will give Canadians another convenient option to travel to Las Vegas,” said Kate Wik, chief marketing officer for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.

“Porter Airlines in Las Vegas is a natural fit. Just like the airline has no middle seats on their flights, there are no ‘middle seat’ experiences in Las Vegas. From our A-list entertainment, world-class dining options, a full calendar of sporting events and an endless array of experiences, only the extraordinary can be here.”

Joined by Michael Curmi, managing director, sales & distribution at Porter Airlines and Sandra Costa, systems & operations manager for Porter Escapes, over the next few days a group of travel industry personnel from the GTA are discovering highlights of the destination in conjunction with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.

Following the launch flight, the group, which also consists of Sam Youssef, TravelBrands; Jessica Groen, Flight Centre Travel Group; Adeline Piekham-Hsieh, Royal Scenic; Raina Williams, Expedia; Shahbaz Khan, Air Miles; Susan Wehmeyer, Wynford and David Han, LVCVA; took to the skies again for a helicopter tour above downtown with Papillon Helicopters.

Then it was time to experience the Sphere, a new music and entertainment arena where rock band U2 just wrapped up a residency.

The FAM group took in a brand new immersive and multi-sensational show called Postcard from Earth.

Directed by Darren Aronofsky, the film is part sci-fi story, part nature documentary and showcases scenes from around the world against a post-apocalyptic narrative. The Sphere is just as captivating from the exterior as 1.4 million LED panels help light up the night sky.
