West Hollywood Offers ‘Authentic’ L.A. Experience

Just in time for TIFF, a delegation of West Hollywood tourism officials dropped by Toronto last week to help spread the word on all the trendy California destination has to offer.

Located in the heart of Los Angeles, West Hollywood is a popular tourist area known for its high-energy nightlife, famed Sunset Strip, restaurants, boutique hotels, comedy clubs and music venues (like The Viper Club and Whiskey a Go Go) and as a swanky celebrity hideaway.

Speaking at an intimate industry luncheon at The Chase on Friday, Jeff Morris, chief marketing officer for the West Hollywood Travel & Tourism Board, described West Hollywood as an amazing destination with “an embarrassment of riches,” such as restaurants, unique hotels and world-class shopping, especially for an area that measures only 4.9 sq. km.

“We call it the heart of L.A. It’s diverse, sexy and current. It’s everything you think of when you think of L.A.,” said Morris, adding that Canada is a very important market for them and one with visitor numbers on the rise.

Because of its location, West Hollywood – which is safe and very walkable – serves as an ideal home base for visitors interested in exploring the rest of Los Angeles and surrounding areas. The beach, for instance, is only a 30- to 40-minute drive away.
