WestJet Adds Atlantic Lift

Westjet-EncoreQ400-May9

WestJet has launched new daily non-stop flights from Halifax Stanfield International Airport to Deer Lake and Gander, Newfoundland, and Sydney, Nova Scotia, on board WestJet Encore’s fleet of Canadian-made Bombardier Q400 NextGen aircraft.

The airline will also inaugurate new daily non-stop service between Moncton, New Brunswick, and Ottawa.

Chris Avery, WestJet vice-president, network planning, alliances and corporate development, said: “These new flights represent our continuing commitment to expand WestJet service to smaller-sized cities from coast to coast, offering Canadians lower airfares, more choice and greater connectivity to our growing domestic, transborder and international networks.”

Avery continued: “In fact, our new flights to and from Halifax represent the single largest increase in service since we began serving the city in 2003. With its fleet of 78-seat turboprop aircraft, WestJet is uniquely positioned to serve new cities and routes, and increase frequencies to existing communities.”

As well, WestJet has also increased frequency between Halifax and St. John’s from twice to three times daily, and between Halifax and Ottawa from once to twice daily.
