The World Is Alive

The Sound of Music is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2015 and Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection will be coming alive with it – music that is – as Elisabeth von Trapp, granddaughter of Maria and Baron von Trapp, performs on select Uniworld itineraries and departures along the Danube from May through September this year.

Guy Young, president of Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection, said: “We are delighted to provide these exclusive performances on our summer 2015 departures. These performances offer our guests the perfect opportunity to commemorate a legendary story while participating in a truly special musical event.”

Guests sailing on select Uniworld “Enchanting Danube” departures will join von Trapp in Salzburg, Austria, at the epic Mirabellgarten as she performs highlights from The Sound of Music as well as other arrangements extending from Gregorian chants and 12th century mystic Hildegard von Bingen tunes, to early American hymns and her own original compositions.

Guests will also participate in a sing-a-long of “Do-Re-Mi” at the famed garden where the original 1964 scene was filmed. Finally, guests sailing on select Delightful Danube & Prague, Danube Discovery & Prague, Grand European Discovery and Grand European Explorer departures will be treated to “the sounds of von Trapp” with an exclusive onboard performance.
