If World Travel Market – the world’s largest English language travel show – is a canary in the coal mine, then the global travel industry has something to chirp about, managing editor, Michael Baginski in this week’s digital edition of Canadian Travel Press.

This year the 36th annual event at the ExCel Centre in London was hailed by some delegates – despite a troubling transit strike in London — as the best ever, with one telling Canadian Travel Press, “There were such a lot of good vibes coming from the Canada stand and positive messages from a number of the [tour operators] saying how well their bookings are looking already, for 2016…”

Attended by more than 52,000 senior travel executives from around the world, the show was expected to generate over £2.5 billion in business deals.

Canada held forth in its usual south floor stand with a couple of dozen exhibitors, but many more Canadian travel execs roamed the floors initiating and concluding deals with partners from around the globe.

But the show also provided a venue for hundreds of destinations and travel companies to reveal their latest news, much of which will clearly resonate beyond the confines of East London.
