Travellers are being warned about travelling to the Wynwood arts district of Miami after the Florida Department of Health identified the area as one where the Zika virus is being spread by mosquitoes.

The advisory is for people travelling to Miami or who may have travelled to this area any time after June 15 (based on the earliest time symptoms can start and the maximum two-week incubation period for Zika virus). Symptoms of Zika can include fever, rash, joint pain and red eyes.

The travel warning covers an area of about one square mile in Wynwood to the east of Interstate 95 and south of I-195.
