Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge steps out in Kananaskis

It’s a year of fresh starts for a resort lodge in the Canadian Rockies that has been recently reinvented by $36 million in renovations – that includes a name change and the recent addition of Alberta’s first Nordic spa.

The property formerly known as the Delta Lodge at Kananaskis has been rebranded as the Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge, an Autograph Collection Hotel. The investment covers a remake of the backcountry luxury rooms, suites and bi-level lofts, as well as the redesign of its restaurants.

The Lodge features 247 contemporary guest units, including suites and lofts that offer breathtaking views of the mountains. The property blends high-end, modern luxuries with the more rugged aspects of mountain living, enabling a convenient, comfortable experience in the solitude of the Kananaskis Valley.

It also provides easy access to four seasons of outdoor sports and adventures, including hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, skating and snow shoeing, plus the year-round KananasKIDS program.

Also on offer is the brand new Kananaskis Nordic Spa. It features four outdoor pools, six steam and sauna cabins, an exfoliation room, a saltwater float pool, heated hammocks and eight massage treatment rooms, plus the Two Trees Bistro, all located on-site at the Lodge. A completely renovated indoor/outdoor hot tub, fitness room, new water park and playground will be completed in spring/summer of 2018.

A key part of the resort rethink focuses on the culinary offerings at the Lodge. “Kananaskis has huge potential to be the next big foodie destination,” said new executive chef, Eric Beaupré, who brings 24 years of award-winning experience to the job. “There is a very exciting opportunity ahead of us – and we want to paint a whole new picture in the culinary scene.”
