Taiwan Tourism to open second tourist info centre in Seattle

To strengthen its presence in the global tourism market and tap into the robust outbound travel demand from North America, the Taiwan Tourism Administration (TTA) will continue its North American expansion by opening a second Taiwan Tourism Information Centre (TTIC) in Seattle on June 13, 2025.

The TTA launched its first TTIC in Vancouver, Canada, on Oct. 2, 2024.

The planned expansion marks a significant milestone in deepening Taiwan’s engagement with the Canadian market and providing in-market support for trade and consumers alike.

In the lead-up to this opening, a Canada-focused B2B tourism mission will take place from June 9 to 13, with events planned in Toronto and Vancouver, before culminating in Seattle. These events are designed to foster tourism partnerships and showcase the latest travel opportunities in Taiwan.

Led by Ben Huang, Director of TTA’s International Affairs Division, the Canadian roadshow will bring together leading travel advisors, tour operators, media, and influencers. Attendees can expect a fully immersive experience of Taiwanese culture—from dynamic Indigenous dance performances by Taiwan’s famed Etolan Style group to tasting authentic Taiwanese cuisine, including bubble tea and Taiwan Beer.

According to the Taiwan Tourism Administration, Canada contributed over 112,000 visitors to Taiwan in 2024, a 22% increase from 2023 and an 82% recovery compared to pre-pandemic 2019 levels. With 14 weekly direct flights from Vancouver and 7 from Toronto, operated by Taiwanese carriers, EVA Air and China Airlines, Taiwan is now more accessible than ever for Canadian travellers.

To further inspire travel trade professionals, exciting prizes such as roundtrip tickets to Taiwan (courtesy of airline partners) and Taiwan tour packages (sponsored by tour operators) will be awarded at each event.

As Canada and the United States now jointly represent Taiwan’s third-largest source of inbound visitors, TTA sees enormous potential in continuing to strengthen ties with Canadian travel partners. The newly established Vancouver TTIC will serve as a hub for real-time travel information, consultation services, and ongoing support for the tourism industry, creating a seamless bridge between Taiwan and Canada.

Through this initiative and future marketing efforts—both digital and on-the-ground—TTA aims to elevate Taiwan’s profile as a must-visit destination for Canadians seeking rich cultural encounters, lush landscapes, and world-renowned culinary adventures. These efforts support TTA’s long-term vision of sustainable tourism development and increased bilateral travel collaboration between Taiwan and Canada.
