“We remain on strike,” Air Canada flight attendants’ union tells members

Air Canada’s flight attendants’ union has told its members that they are still on strike and locked out.

In a message, posted on the AC Component Bargaining Committee’s website, the union advised members that “your bargaining committee, CUPE National and Legal Counsel have just concluded the hearing in regard to the minister moving forward section 107. At this time, you are still on Strike and Locked out!”

In a further message posted on the AC Component of CUPE’s Facebook page, the union told members: “We will be challenging this blatantly unconstitutional order that violates the Charter rights of 10,000 flight attendants, 70% of whom are women, and 100% of whom are forced to do hours of unpaid work by their employer every time they come to work.”

The post continued: “We invite Air Canada back to the table to negotiate a fair deal …”

However, the union added in its post: “We remain on strike. We demand a fair, negotiated contract and to be compensated for all hours worked.”
