IATA Reports Strong September Results
IATA reports that passenger data for September 2022 shows that the air travel recovery continues to be strong. The industry association notes the following: Total traffic in September 2022 (measured in revenue passenger kilometres or RPKs) rose 57.0% compared to September 2021. Globally, traffic is now at 73.8% of September 2019 levels. Domestic traffic for September 2022 was up 6.9% compared to the year-ago period. Simplification and convenience are the top concerns of travellers in the post-COVID world according to IATA’s 2022 Global Passenger Survey (GPS). DOT Grants Canada Jetlines US Route Authority
Canada Jetlines Operations Ltd. reports that the United States Department of Transportation has granted it economic authority to serve the U.S. This exemption is effective immediately and will be replaced by a permanent foreign air carrier permit. Canada Jetlines requires Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approvals before it can start operating to the United States and expects this process to be completed before the end of the year. Air Canada and Emirates have launched their codeshare cooperation which will allow customers of the carriers to enjoy seamless connectivity to 46 markets spanning three continents, including to destinations across the Americas, the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Indian subcontinent.
