Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, carried a record number of passengers and cargo in 2014, marking its strongest operational performance to date. IATA reports that global passenger traffic results for the full year of 2014 show demand (revenue passenger kilometers or RPKs) rose 5.9% compared to the full year of 2013. This 2014 performance was above the 10-year average growth rate of 5.6% and the 5.2% annual growth experienced in 2013 compared to 2012. Air Canada has reported a record system load factor of 80.1% for Jan. 2015 – compared to 80% in Jan.l 2014 – on a system-wide capacity increase of 8.3%. On this additional capacity, system wide traffic for January increased 8.4%. Celebrity Cruises is launching inaugural flights from Halifax to Miami as part of an “all included” cruise vacation package. The flights will depart Halifax Stanfield beginning this Sat., Feb. 7, 2015, and continue weekly for the next nine weeks.
