Hawaiian Airlines honoured
Hawaiian Airlines has earned the airline industry's first-ever verified aviation carbon credits for its efforts to reduce CO2 emissions. Since 2005, Hawaiian has used an eco-friendly engine washing technology on its aircraft, the result of which has been a reduction of nearly 22,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions overall since then. This is the equivalent of removing 700 cars from the roadways annually. AC crew schedulers ratify deal
Air Canada has received confirmation from the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) union Local 2002 that the airline's flight operations crew schedulers have ratified a new collective agreement. The agreement has also been approved by the Air Canada board of directors. The four year deal is in effect until March 22, 2015. Tiara Air Aruba gets first 737-300
Tiara Air Aruba has taken delivery of its first Boeing 737-300. The addition of "The Tiara Air Arawak" to the fleet marks the beginning of a new phase of regional expansion for the airline. Carrier CEO Alejandro Muyale commented: "We are thrilled to welcome our newest and largest aircraft into the Tiara fleet. The increase in capacity provided by the 141-seat 737-300 gives us the leverage we need to enter new markets where travel to Aruba is in demand." Porter off to Myrtle Beach
Porter Airlines has launched its annual winter/spring service to Myrtle Beach, S.C., with two weekly flights from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. Australian-based international and domestic carrier, Air Australia has shut down its operations, forcing somewhere in the neighbourhood of 4,000 passengers to scramble to make alternate air arrangements. The carrier's closing came today (Feb. 17, 2012) when it appointed a voluntary administrator. Lufthansa is advising passengers of flight disruptions at Frankfurt Airport as the result of strike action by the Gdf air traffic controllers union on Thursday and Friday.
