Industry stalwart, Max Johnson has sold The Great Canadian Travel Company (GCTC) to Ian Kalinowsky and embarking on a new journey.

Johnson has operated GCTC for 35 years and while he’s sold the company, he’ll remain with it as the head of product development.

In announcing the move, Johnson wrote, “After a wonderful 35 years owning and running The Great Canadian Travel Company it is time for a change. Effective today, Aug. 1, I have sold the business to Ian Kalinowsky ([email protected]). He comes to the travel industry from the financial sector, and brings a deep understanding to process and business management to the company. I will be remaining with GCTC as the head of product development, and will enjoy time working with past and new suppliers in bringing an ever-widening range of programs to our clients.”

Johnson noted that he’ll be working in the Winnipeg office for a few weeks, and then dividing his time between Winnipeg and France.

And he added, “In addition to my work with The Great Canadian Travel Company, I shall be developing my consultancy, working with small-market destinations and operators seeking to develop their presence in the North American market, and will continue writing and blogging.”
