HILLARY CLINTON TO SPEAK AT ASTA CONVENTION

Hillary Rodham Clinton, former Secretary of State and former US Senator from New York will address attendees in the closing session at ASTA’s Global Convention in Miami, Sept 17-19. This year marks a new vision for the convention with a format that will deliver education for agents in technology, marketing and sales. “We are very excited to welcome such a prominent speaker to ASTA’s Global Convention,”said Zane Kerby, ASTA president and CEO. Secretary Clinton will address attendees during the closing general session on Sept. 19, at the James L. Knight Center in Miami. “Our job at ASTA is to help travel agents win and retain more business. The new convention format re-emphasizes the educational nature of our association,”Kerby said. “The world is changing rapidly and we are here to arm agents with tools to compete.”The convention will also feature educational opportunities for all of ASTA’s shared interest groups. Examples include the Hispanic Caucus, Chapters Network, Young Professionals Society, ASTA Premium Members, Cruise Specialists, Tour Operator Program and Allied Member sessions. Enhanced education designed for experienced agents, owners, managers and executives of travel companies will feature content not available at other shows. New features include a General Session luncheon, Opening Night event at the Miami Bayside Marketplace, and golf tournament. Due to venue constraints, this year’s tradeshow will be physically smaller, but offer more value to participating suppliers who can anticipate meeting many more qualified agents. In addition, an innovations competition will feature suppliers bringing new products and services to market. Always a special feature of the convention, ASTA’s signature Black Tie event “The Advocacy Dinner”will be held on Sept. 18. (http://www.asta.org)
