NEW LIFT TO THE SUN
As a result of State of Guerrero Governor Angel Aguirre Rivero’s efforts to increase air connectivity to the Sun Triangle destinations, Secretary of Tourism, Javier Aluni, has announced the commencement of two new flights to Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo from Montreal and Toronto via Sunwing Airlines. “We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Sunwing Airlines and introduce additional flights service from Toronto and Montreal, both which are important gateways and markets for our destinations,”said Aguirre Rivero, governor of the State of Guerrero. “These new flights provide access for travellers looking to explore the natural beauty of Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo and experience its world-class services as well as further solidifies the confidence that our travel industry partners have in the Sun Triangle destinations. We believe this relationship has been strengthen by our plans for new infrastructure, increased security and various tourism initiatives.”According to Laurence Elliot, vice-president of Sunwing Travel, “The Sun Triangle destinations — Acapulco, Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo and Taxco — offer many attractions for Canadian visitors. With these joined efforts, we are certain of Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo’s success in the Canadian market and we look forward to continue working to increase flights in the near future.”The new flights are a result of Aluni’s trip to Canada last month to increase airlift to Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo from Canada. The State of Guerrero intends to support the new flights to Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo through advertising and promotional campaigns with the support of the Mexico Tourism Board and Sunwing Airlines. The new flights will be available two times per week starting this winter travel season. Sunwing also operates weekly flights to Acapulco from Toronto. (http://www.sunwing.ca)
