Home Pix of the Trade Newfoundland Hotel Wins Canadian Hotel of the Year

The Quality Hotel in Clarenville, Newfoundland has been named the 2021 Canadian Hotel of the Year by Choice Hotels Canada.

The property took the top honours over more than 330 hotels in the Choice Hotels Canada family. To qualify, the winning hotel must have received a 2021 Platinum Guest Satisfaction Award, which recognizes properties in the top three per cent of Choice Canada’s portfolio.

After purchasing the property, Clayton Hospitality embarked on a full-scale $2-million renovation prior to opening in February 2019 under the Quality brand. Clayton Hospitality is a family-run business owned by siblings Judy Sparkes-Giannou and Bruce and Steve Sparkes.

“This win is especially notable considering the hotel has only been in our system for two years,” said Brian Leon, president of Choice Hotels Canada. “We are delighted for Judy, Bruce, Steve and the team at Clayton Hospitality for having the vision to develop a property that is not only top-rated for its superior guest experience, but also represents an important economic driver for the community.”
