Poon Tip To Keynote At Caribbean World Tourism Day

Bruce Poon Tip will deliver the keynote address at a special virtual conference on Sept. 27 to mark World Tourism Day.

“The Future of Caribbean Tourism – Redefining the three S’s” will be a day-long event and is an unprecedented collaborative effort among nearly a dozen agencies and institutions related to tourism and key ancillary sectors, bringing together a wide range of stakeholders across the tourism spectrum to discuss the outlook for the region’s primary revenue earner.

In his keynote, Poon Tip will discuss three priority areas for the region: social inclusion, sustainability, and smart destinations and businesses.

The founder of G Adventures observed: “I am so encouraged about the direction and steps the Caribbean Tourism Organization and regional partners are taking to build travel back better in the region following the global pandemic. Community tourism is an incredible way to help make a difference and has the potential to have a hugely positive impact for the Caribbean and those who live there, when done right.”

Organizers of the virtual event include the Caribbean Tourism Organization, The University of the West Indies, Association of Caribbean States, Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association, Caribbean Public Health Agency, Compete Caribbean Partnership Facility, Global Tourism Resilience & Crisis Management Centre, Inter-American Development Bank, Organisation of American States, Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States, and the United Nations Development Programme for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean.
