Tasty Treats

Agents sending their clients to Philadelphia may want to let them know that they’ll have no end of options when it comes to dining in the City of Brotherly Love. That was certainly the message this week as a trio of representatives from Philadelphia offered some insights into what the city has to offer to its visitors, plus some tasty treats from one of Philly’s top chefs.

Visit Philadelphia’s Donna Schorr points out that Canada has been a strong market for the city, which is just a short flight or a day’s drive from Toronto. And while the Canadian dollar has dropped some, Schorr said that Canadians are still finding the exchange rate is good – even better when shoppers realize that there’s no tax payable on clothing purchases.

As for what Philadelphia has to recommend itself to the visitor, Schorr said that it’s an easy city to get around in that and considering it’s the “Birthplace of America,” there is certainly a lot of history to take in. Plus it has a vibrant art scene, close to 30 public gardens, lots of professional sports (it has five sports teams) and food – including more than 200 BYOB restaurants.

Seen in the photo, from l to r, are LMA’s Jerry Grymek; Joncarl Lachman, chef, Noord; Donna Schorr of Visit Philadelphia (which is the tourism organization for the Greater Philadelphia area); and food critic, Drew Lazor.
