TEE IT UP: Say fore in Cozumel
May 4 will see golfers from various parts of the world converge on Cozumel for the Fifth Annual Cozumel Island Golf Tournament. The Presidente InterContinental Cozumel Resort & Spa will again be the host hotel. The site of the tournament will be Cozumel Country Club, an 18-hole, 6,734 yard par 72 layout designed by the Nicklaus Design Group from the jungle and mangroves and lakes on the northern end of Cozumel. Cozumel Country Club was the first golf course in Mexico to earn certification by Audubon International as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary and lets players test their skills while surrounded by island flora and fauna. A tournament package includes two nights at the Presidente InterContinental Cozumel Resort & Spa, a welcome cocktail for all players, a night putting contest which benefits a local charity, a welcome kit for all participants, the tournament round of golf and a discount for a practice round. Transportation to and from the tournament on the day of the event is included, as well as drinks and lunch at the golf course. There are also activities available for accompanying non-golfers, including discounts at the hotel’s Madara Spa. All taxes and service charges are included in the package price. Tournament prizes include a car for the first hole-in-one on the designated par 3 hole. Long Drive and Closest to the Pin prizes and raffles for trips around the world with hotel stays at different InterContinental hotels are also available, as well as airfare to many of the destinations. The tournament fee for one golfer is US$510 and US$598 for two golfers sharing a room. The rate for a golfer sharing the room with a non-golfer is US$525. The tournament fee includes an awards dinner. E-mail Olga Mantilla at [email protected]. (http://www.intercontinentalcozumel.com/english/golf)
