The air travel recovery continued in November with IATA reporting that total traffic in November 2022 (measured in revenue passenger kilometers or RPKs) rose 41.3% compared to November 2021. Globally, traffic is now at 75.3% of November 2019 levels.
IATA also reported that:
International traffic rose 85.2% versus November 2021. The Asia-Pacific continued to report the strongest year-over-year results with all regions showing improvement compared to the prior year. November 2022 international RPKs reached 73.7% of November 2019 levels.

Sunwing has resumed its regular operations from Mazatlán.
The carrier reports that on Jan. 6, 2023 -- in light of the government advisory for Mazatlán and out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of all Sunwing passengers and crew -- Sunwing had temporarily cancelled all southbound departures to Mazatlán, Mexico, affecting departures from Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, Kelowna and Vancouver airports.
As a result, northbound return flights from Mazatlán scheduled for Jan. 6, 2023 were impacted by further delays.

Icelandair will add Tel Aviv, Israel to its network as a new destination for the 2023 summer season.
Beginning May 10 and continuing to Oct. 29, the carrier will offer direct flights three times a week between Reykjavik and Tel Aviv from Keflavik Airport, on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Flight time from Iceland is around seven hours.

IATA says that it is ‘extremely disappointed’ that countries are imposing new COVID-19 testing measures on travellers from China.
In a statement, IATA’s Director General, Willie Walsh writes:
“Several countries are introducing COVID-19 testing and other measures for travellers from China, even though the virus is already circulating widely within their borders. It is extremely disappointing to see this knee-jerk reinstatement of measures that have proven ineffective over the last three years.”
