The Lufthansa Group continues with the modernization of its fleet, welcoming its 16th Boeing 747-8 Tuesday (Jan. 27) as scheduled at its future home in Frankfurt. Following a nine-hour transfer flight from Seattle, the newest “Queen of the Skies” joined Lufthansa’s jumbo fleet, replacing an older Boeing 747-400, which is being decommissioned. Due to an expected huge winter storm, Air Canada has issued a travel alert regarding flights to a large section of the US Eastern Seaboard and Canada, including Boston, New York and Philadelphia. The US National Weather Service is using terms like “life-threatening” and “historic” in regards to the storm, which could see high winds and as much as three feet of snow fall in some areas.
