WestJet will add Glasgow as its newest European destination, introducing daily non-stop flights from Halifax beginning May 29, 2015, with direct (same-aircraft) service from Toronto, operated on one of the airline's Boeing Next-Generation 737-700 series aircraft.
The new daily non-stop seasonal flights between Halifax and Glasgow will operate from May 29, 2015 to Oct. 23, 2015. Daily connections will be available between Glasgow via Halifax or Toronto to Montreal, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver and 16 other cities in WestJet's Canadian network.

Tourism Ireland is looking for what can only be described as spectacular growth from Canada over the course of the next three years. In a presentation to its key travel trade partners (airlines, tour operators, travel agents and online travel agencies) in Toronto yesterday (Sept. 30), Tourism Ireland's North American boss, Alison Metcalfe reported that the Emerald Isle had seen 13% growth out of Canada through to the end of August 2014 and in its new strategic plan was targeting 47% growth between 2014 and 2016.

With the pilots' strike at Air France now over, the carrier indicated that it is “gradually resuming its flight schedule.”
Flights that were cancelled on both Sept. 28 and Sept. 29, 2014 remained cancelled, with Air France indicating that things will gradually return to normal over two to three days due to operational and regulatory constraints.

Flights are slowly resuming at O'Hare in Chicago after a fire at a suburban air traffic control facility this morning halted flights in and out of the city's two airports, O'Hare and Midway.
The fire led to the evacuation of the Chicago Air Route Traffic Control Center in Aurora, about 40 miles west of Chicago. By 7:30 a.m., more than 200 flights to and from O'Hare had been cancelled.
