A long-awaited $4 million energy-efficient illumination system is bringing a wider spectrum of colour and brighter, more dramatic displays to both the Canadian Horseshoe and the American Falls in Niagara.
More than 1,400 individual LED luminaires along the Canadian shoreline now replace 21 older Xenon searchlights, doubling the lighting levels and improving visibility.
It’s the first significant upgrade to the Falls lighting in more than 20 years. The displays can be computer programmed for 1,800 colour combinations and automated sequences. Energy costs are expected to be reduced...

Weekly flights from Montreal to San Juan's Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport will operate through April 22.

It's been a good year for tourism in New York City (NYC) – record setting, in fact – as the The Big Apple will welcome an all-time record 60.3 million visitors by year’s end, surpassing the 60 million visitor milestone for the first time ever.
It is seventh consecutive year of travel and tourism growth for NYC. Air Transat inaugurated its first direct flight between Toronto and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, on Sunday (Dec. 18).
The new service is being be offered every Sunday until April 30, using Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
Air Transat’s flight program for the winter of 2016-2017 offers travellers 35 sun destinations, including five in the Dominican Republic: La Romana, Puerto Plata, Punta Cana, Santo Domingo and Samana.
