Travel to Canada Continues to Surge
Canada remains a hot commodity as it welcomed more than 1.5 million international visitors in May, an 8% year-on-year increase, according to a new Destination Canada Tourism Snapshot. The total was the highest number of international visitors to Canada in May since 2002. Other statistics show: From the US, arrivals rose by auto (9%), air (6%) and other modes of transport (6%), culminating in an overall 8% year-on-year rise in travellers. Transat Sets Sights On Paris
Transat reports that travellers will be able to fly from Toronto to Paris this winter thanks to the addition of new connecting flights to Montreal. Intrepid, Tauck Heading Back to Nepal
Intrepid Travel says the first safety assessment of the Annapurna region of Nepal since April's earthquake shows it's safe for tourists to return to the region. The assessment, conducted by Miyamoto-Earthquake Structural Engineers and carried out from June 25 to July 2, declared that the Annapurna Circuit and Annapurna Sanctuary trails and villages covered in this study appear largely undamaged by landslides following the April and May earthquakes.
