St. Croix, US Virgin Islands' Caravelle Hotel & Casino will temporarily close on April 30, 2018 to complete renovations due to damage caused by Hurricane Maria, a rare, maximum-strength Category 5 storm that hit the island Sept. 20.
As a landing place for emergency personnel, the Caravelle is continuing to house relief workers as they work to repair infrastructure around the island. The hotel will begin the major repairs as quickly as possible and hopes to re-open for business Sept. 1, 2018.
