Air Canada has launched non-stop service between Montreal and Lyon – the only year-round non-stop service between North America and Lyon. Air Transat is flying high these days as the carrier celebrates the inauguration of its first direct flight between Vancouver and Rome. Brussels Airlines’ customers flying to Canada, the US or Africa now have a choice of three classes – Economy, Business Class and the newly introduced Economy Plus. The March 22 bomb attacks on Brussels Airport, leaving 32 dead and more than 300 injured, has slowed short-term demand for air travel, but there are other issues that may have an adverse effect on airlines in the longer term according to IATA’s chief exec Tony Tyler. The association’s traffic data for April showed that worldwide demand for seats rose only 4.6% - the slowest monthly growth rate since January last year. The Reputation Institute released the 2016 Canada RepTrak 50, a study of the most highly regarded companies in Canada, including both international and homegrown organizations.
