Norway-based Hurtigruten has announced the winning name in its “Name our Newest Ship” Facebook contest – the MS Spitsbergen. Spitsbergen is the largest island in Norway’s Svalbard Archipelago, located above the Arctic Circle. The name was chosen from more than 15,000 suggestions, submitted from around the world since July. Engine Fire Keeps Liberty in St. Thomas, Guests Flown Home
Carnival Liberty remains in St. Thomas following an engine fire on Sept. 7 and all guests are being flown home from there. There were no injuries reported and the fire was extinguished by the ship’s automated suppression system. Guests will receive a full refund on their cruise as well as a 50% discount on a future cruise.
