New short-hop flight services to Lanai and Molokai by Hawaiian Airlines are scheduled to start early in 2013. The service will operate using two ATR 42 twin-turboprop aircraft that were purchased last October. The previously owned aircraft are being configured to accommodate 44 to 50 passengers. Hawaii's tourism economy is on pace for a record-breaking year with a total of US$12.9 billion in visitor expenditures through November. That's US$2.1 billion more than the same period last year. Every day for the first 11 months of the year, visitors who came to the Hawaiian Islands by air spent $193, which is $16 more per day than last year. The City of Puerto Vallarta has celebrated the reopening of the Los Muertos Port, located in Puerto Vallarfta's popular downtown. The port, which was once one of the main ways to connect the city to other points on the Bay of Banderas, underwent a $2.4-million makeover as part of the city's downtown renovation program.
